What happened in the days leading up to a certain well-beloved green character stealing Christmas? What led said character to go down the road to madness? Is it true that all it takes is one bad day to make a sane person go mad?

Northeastern US Melodic Metal act Severed Angel return with their Christmas holiday single "Professor Finch." After 5 consecutive singles (their cover of Ghost's "Square Hammer," "A Fate Worse Than Death," "Run and Hyde," their Halloween-themed "Bump In The Night," and "Mt. Cyanide"), the band decided to tackle the Yuletide season with an original ode to the beloved Christmas character that is as charming as an eel with all the tenderness of a seasick crocodile.

Professor of Music for 15 years
I used to write everyday
But then I grew sick of noise from all my peers
I just had to get away

I’ll take a sabbatical and go away somewhere in the snow
My writer’s block will dissipate
Peace and quiet is apropos

Music - my passion in life

At first I thought I found the place
It’s perfect with no one around
But then i heard the noise - cacophony from below
It’s coming from the town

I took a sabbatical and went away to live somewhere alone
The goal was to write through day and night
Can’t concentrate in my new home

I went down to the town the next morning to see if they would be neighborly and keep it down. It did not go as planned. All I got were dirty looks. They acted like I was a monster when I asked why they sang so loudly all day and night. Okay; new plan. I need to get noise canceling headphones! That might help! I went into every store in town, and all they could say was “Too late! You shouldn’t have waited until the day before Christmas Eve to try and buy gifts!”

I never did get it done. I lost everything.

All they had to do was keep their voices down
Now I’ll burn their gifts and trees to the ground
